Blog Content Proposal Template
For content writers quoting a monthly programme to a business that wants organic traffic and will judge it long before it arrives.
- Who it is for
- Content writers
- Ideal client
- A business that wants to rank and has nothing published
- Category
- Writing & Content
- Packages
- 3
Content retainers get cancelled in month four, almost always, and almost always because nobody agreed what success looked like in month one. Traffic takes longer to arrive than a client expects and the invoice turns up monthly regardless.
What the client reads
The scope
This is the wording the template arrives with. Yours replaces it.

The whole thing, live
The page your client opens
Not a screenshot. This is the real client page running on an invented deal. Pick a package and press approve to see what your client would see; nothing is sent or charged.
How it gets paid
Deposit, then balance
50% is due when the client approves, and the balance when you mark the work delivered. Both payments happen on the same link the proposal is on.
Card or bank transfer, and you choose which per deal. If you want a package to bill every month instead of once, you set that on the package itself when you build the deal, and the client can cancel it from their own link.
Prices are a starting point in Australian dollars. Change the figures, the inclusions and the number of packages to suit what you sell.
The starting terms
What approving the page records
These sit above the approve button. The client reads them, and approving records that they accepted them.
These terms cover the work you approve on this page.
- Scope. The pieces, their length and the rounds of revision are those described above.
- Payment. The deposit shown on this page is paid on approval and the balance when the final draft is delivered.
- Revisions. A round is one consolidated set of feedback rather than one change. Rounds beyond those included, and a change of direction after a draft is approved, are quoted before the work is done.
- Your part. Background, access to people to interview and feedback come from you. Time lost waiting moves the delivery date.
- Research and accuracy. Facts, claims and figures you supply are taken as correct. Final sign off for accuracy and for any regulated claim is yours.
- Ownership. Copyright in the delivered words passes to you once the balance is paid. Until then the work stays mine. I keep the right to describe the project in my portfolio unless you ask me in writing not to.
- Cancellation. If you cancel after work has started, you are charged for the work completed to that point and receive it as it stands.
Approving this page records that you accepted this scope, this price and these terms.
Starting terms, not legal advice. Read them, change what does not match how you work, and have a lawyer look at them if the work is large enough to warrant it. Your own default terms in Settings replace these automatically.
Pricing it well
What decides whether this job is profitable
These packages count posts and words, which at least makes the delivery checkable while the results are still on their way. The larger tier adds keyword strategy and internal linking, which is the difference between four articles and four articles that reinforce one another.
Be careful what you promise. The terms that come with this say no ranking or traffic outcome is guaranteed, and that is not a disclaimer to apologise for. It is the sentence that lets you keep working on a programme that is going well before it looks like it is going well.
Before you send it
What to change first
The parts of this template most likely to be wrong for you.
- Word counts, which are the main lever on how long a post actually takes
- Who approves each post, and how long one may sit waiting for them
- Whether images are sourced or supplied, and who holds the licence
- Whether you publish into their site or hand over documents
